PIP PROJECTS

Water Supply is a basic government service that need to be made available to everyone. Water PNG, through the Public Investment Program (PIP) take up projects annually to improve and service water supply to rural towns and district areas in the country.

The following are PIP projects currently being worked on around the country. 

 

Aitape

 

Aitape Water Supply Project

The proposed water supply project is to cover Aitape District Town. It is part of the Vision 2050 to provide safe drinking water to all District Towns in Papua New Guinea.

Bulolo Water Supply Project

 The proposed water supply project is to cover Bulolo District Town. It is part of the Vision 2050 to provide safe drinking water to all District Towns in Papua New Guinea.

Ialibu Water Supply Project

This project will supply those areas which are within the town boundary and also the areas which are within the fringes of the town boundary.Groundwater source has been identified for the water supply system for Ialibu station with 3 bores being proposed for drilling.

 Kainantu

 

 

Kainantu Water Supply Project

The initial design of the Kainantu Water Supply consisted of equipping an existing borehole, construction of a new pumping station, rising main, water reservoir and chlorination facilities, and installation of transmission and distribution mains.  Due to the insufficient yields from the bores, Water PNG has now reverted to utilising the current Tapo River as the source for the water supply system.

Kupiano Water Suppy Project

The design philosophy will follow the JICA GWDS report, which develops the water supply in three (3) stages – Stage 1, 2 & 3. This project will develop stage 1 only. Stage 1 will supply the town residents only.

Minj Town Water Supply Project

The proposed project will cover Minj Town and will comprise the construction of approximately 16,640m of various sizes of gravity sewer mains and 33 manholes.

Pangia Water Supply Project

The design philosophy will be demand based. This project will supply those areas which are within the town boundary and also the areas which are within the fringes of the town boundary. This includes government institutions such as schools, hospitals, district offices, police stations. Also non-government organizations such as churches, etc will be served water. Light Industrial areas such as stores, small factories, and operating business arms and outlets will also be served water.

 Tari Town Water Supply Project

The proposed project will comprise of the construction of approximately 5km of  150diameter DICL rising mains, with associated fittings.
